METOD is IKEA’s modular kitchen system, used widely across Australian kitchens, laundries and home offices. It comes in a range of base cabinet, wall cabinet and tall cabinet configurations, and the modular sizing makes it straightforward to replace standard fronts with custom doors. Ren Studio custom doors fit every standard METOD size.
IKEA PAX (wardrobes)
PAX is IKEA’s wardrobe system, popular across bedrooms, hallways and home offices. Standard PAX doors tend toward the utilitarian — upgrading to custom doors completely transforms the result, giving wardrobes a furniture-quality, built-in look. Ren Studio’s PAX doors are pre-drilled to suit IKEA’s hinge placements, so installation is straightforward.
IKEA BESTÅ (living and media storage)
BESTÅ is IKEA’s living room storage system, used for TV units, sideboards and display storage. It’s a versatile system that’s increasingly popular as a custom media unit foundation — pair it with Ren Studio doors and it reads as bespoke joinery at a fraction of the custom price.

Slim Shaker
Our most popular profile. A refined, contemporary take on the classic shaker door — a flat centre panel within a narrower frame. Adds warmth and texture without the visual weight of a traditional shaker. Works in almost any context: kitchens, laundries, wardrobes.
Shaker
The classic shaker profile with a wider frame for more presence and depth. Timeless and warm — particularly effective in larger kitchens where a bolder profile reads well.
Neat (flat-panel / slab)
A completely smooth, flat face with no frame or recess. Minimal and modern, and particularly beautiful in Natural Veneer where the uninterrupted timber grain takes centre stage. The most versatile profile for contemporary wardrobe and BESTÅ applications.
Linear (V-groove)
A routed profile featuring vertical grooves for architectural texture and rhythm. Especially effective on tall doors — pantry cabinets, full-height wardrobes — where the vertical lines add visual interest and a subtle mid-century or Scandi quality.
Your finish options
Your finish is the material and colour of the door surface. Ren Studio offers several distinct finish families:
Customcoat (painted 2PAC)
A smooth, matte painted finish available in a wide range of colours. This is the finish most people picture when they imagine a high-end painted kitchen. Rich, flat, and easy to wipe down. Lead time: approximately 8 weeks.
Natural Veneer
Real crown-cut American White Oak veneer in a vertical grain, finished in a matte lacquer. Available in clear, stained or solid black. The most premium finish in our range and the one that most clearly differentiates a Ren Studio kitchen from a standard IKEA result. Lead time: 5 weeks.
Timberline
A high-quality timber-look laminate — durable, moisture-resistant, and well-suited to hardworking spaces like kitchens and laundries. Available in a range of wood-grain tones. Lead time: 5 weeks.
Renwood
A timber-look laminate with a natural, warm character. A great option for spaces where you want the warmth of timber without the longer commitment of real veneer. Lead time: 7 weeks.
Raw (unpainted)
Unfinished MDF, ready for your own paint or primer. The most economical option and the fastest — Raw doors have a 3-week lead time, making them popular for renovators working to tighter timelines. Note: Raw panels should be primed and painted promptly after delivery.

How the process works
Getting custom IKEA doors from Ren Studio is a straightforward process with a few clear stages:
Step 1: Finalise your IKEA layout
Your first step is to confirm your IKEA cabinet plan using IKEA’s online planner (or the in-store planning service). This generates a list of cabinet carcasses that becomes the basis of your Ren Studio order. If you’d like help with the planning process, our Plan My Space service connects you with experienced IKEA planning specialists.
Step 2: Order your IKEA carcasses — and remove the fronts
When you place your IKEA order, contact IKEA before checkout and ask them to remove all fronts from your order — that means doors, drawer fronts, cover panels and plinths. You won’t need these as they’ll be replaced by your Ren Studio pieces. Importantly, keep the door hinges in your IKEA order. Ren Studio doors are pre-drilled to suit IKEA’s hinge system, and hinges are not supplied with our products.
Step 3: Choose your profile and finish
Browse our profiles and finishes and decide on the combination that suits your space. Not sure where to start? Order samples first — we supply finish samples so you can see the colour and material in your own light before committing. Step 4: Place your Ren Studio order
Once your IKEA plan is confirmed and your finish is chosen, you can order directly through our online shop. If you’d prefer help putting the order together, our Create My Order service takes care of this for you — simply share your IKEA plan and our team matches every cabinet in your plan to the corresponding Ren Studio products.
Step 5: Manufacturing and delivery
Every Ren Studio door and panel is handcrafted to order in our Brisbane workshop. Lead times range from 4 weeks to approximately 7 weeks, depending on your chosen finish. Once complete, your order is delivered Australia-wide. Freight time is additional to the production lead time and varies by location.
Step 6: Installation
Your Ren Studio pieces arrive pre-drilled and ready to install onto your IKEA carcasses. Most customers use a professional installer for the best result — we recommend not booking trades until your pieces have been received, rather than scheduling against an estimated arrival date.
What does it cost?
The cost of custom IKEA doors varies depending on the number of pieces in your project, your chosen finish, and the profile selected. As a general principle: custom doors from Ren Studio sit comfortably between the cost of standard IKEA fronts and fully custom joinery — typically significantly less than bespoke cabinetry, while delivering a result that’s visually comparable.

Yes, and we strongly encourage it. We supply finish samples for every material in our range. Seeing the colour and texture in your own light — at different times of day — before ordering is the single most important step in making a finish decision you’ll be happy with.
What’s the difference between custom IKEA doors and fully custom joinery?
Fully custom joinery is designed and built from scratch to your exact specifications — it offers unlimited flexibility but comes at a significant cost premium and typically involves much longer lead times. Custom IKEA doors work within IKEA’s standard cabinet dimensions, which is both the limitation (you can’t change the carcass sizing) and the advantage (the modular system is reliable, well-priced, and widely supported by installers). For most renovation budgets, custom IKEA doors deliver 80–90% of the visual result of full custom joinery at 30–40% of the cost.
